OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Developed community-based marine and coastal resource conservation areas that cover seagrass meadows, mangrove forests, and rare marine animals such as dugongs, dolphins and sea turtles - forming part of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization Ordinance in 3 sub districts
Established the conservation and co-management of coastal and marine resources in the Aquatic Larvae Conservation Area in four villages (Le-Se-Ban)
Developed the Bo-Hin Subdistrict Administrative Organization Ordinance on Sustainable Management of Seagrass Resources and Coastal Ecosystems (2010)
Led on the Libong Subdistrict Administrative Organization Ordinance on Dugong and Seagrass Conservation (2011), and arranged consultations with the community for a Dugong and Seagrass Conservation Area (2019)
Led on the Sukorn Subdistrict Administrative Organization Ordinance on dolphin conservation (2010)
Prepared a notification to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on protecting marine and coastal resources in Palian District, Hat Samran District, Yan Ta Khao District, Kantang District and Sikao District in Trang Province (2020)
Led on the revision of the Fisheries Act (2015) and the promotion of the Marine and Coastal Resource Management Act, 2015
Together with other NGOs SAN has collaborated on assemblies for amending laws related to natural resources and the environment, including the National Environmental Quality Promotion and Conservation Act (No. 2) (2018), National Parks Act (2019), and Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act (2019)
Together with the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion and Trang Province leaders SAN contributed to a MOU on Trang sustainable development, including marine waste management and dugong conservation under ‘Green City and Waste Reduction’
Organized several training activities on coastal community waste management (continuous)
Developed a Dugong Conservation Master Plan as part of a Dugong Conservation MoU
Together with the Department of Coastal and Marine Resources, and related communities, developed a Dugong and Seagrass Restoration and Conservation Plan (2021-2025)
